Only a ...</title><content type='html'>There is a gross mistake in the last part. Only a very energetic proton (~1 GEV and higher)will emit a photon. The protons knocked by the neutrons impinging on the liq. scint. will excite the molecules of the liq. scintillator (and lose some energy while doing so).
