Future Movies – Avatar 2, Avatar 3, Batman 3 – The Dark Knight Rises and Star Wars

James Cameron will direct Avatar 2 for 2014 and Avatar 3 for 2015 (shot back to back and in 3D of course) The first Avatar grossed $2.8 billion, so the new movies will be the top priority for 20th Century Fox.

The third Chris Nolan Batman movie will be called the Dark Knight Rises. It will be shot in 2D and Imax and will not have the Riddler as one of the villains.

There was a rumour of another trilogy of Star Wars movies set after the time of Luke Skywalker. This was denied by Lucas Films.

* Lucasfilm is already hard at work converting the entire Star Wars saga into 3D which will be released starting with Episode I: The Phantom Menace in 2012. The entire saga will have been completely released in 3D by about 2015 or 2016.

* there is live action Star Wars television series currently in development. It is set between the time of the Clone Wars and a New Hope. That show already has over 50 scripts ready to go and plenty of pre-production time and money has been spent on artwork and storyboards. Once that show goes into production, Lucasfilm hopes to be able to produce at least 100 episodes since that is the threshold for syndication in the United States.

* It’s not for certain if they will be the long awaited Episodes 7, 8 and 9 but could instead be Episodes 10, 11 and 12 or possibly even further out in the Star Wars timeline. And by giving space in the timeline, possibly even as far as 100 years or 1,000 years in the Star Wars universe future, Lucas avoids having to make these stories “fit in” with what the previous stories have told.

* the rumoured plan is that Lucas would self finance the new trilogy after he rakes in an expected $500 – $750 million dollars with the re-release of the entire Star Wars Saga in 3D and on Blu-Ray.

It would all be about keeping full steam on the Star Wars toy empire, which makes about three times what the movies made.

The Indiana Jones movies will also be released in 3D
