China Pours Concrete for Second Tiashan Nuclear Reactor and Germany Plans Shift from Coal to Nuclear Power

1. The first concrete has been poured at the Taishan nuclear power plant in Guangdong province, China, marking the official start of construction for the site’s second EPR (French nuclear reactor) unit.



2. Germany’s Christian Social Union wants the country to reduce its use of coal in favor of nuclear power to help fight climate change, Financial Times Deutschland reported.


The ruling coalition — which includes the CSU, its sister party the Christian Democrats and the Free Democratic Party — will set out a long-term plan for Germany’s energy mix this summer
