Blomoberg reports – President Barack Obama, acting on a pledge to support nuclear power, will propose tripling loan guarantees for new reactors to more than $54 billion, two people familiar with the plan said. This is expected to be in the 2011 budget. If passed and the loans made promptly this should ensure that there will be ten reactors built in the USA by 2020. Those first ten new reactor builds will remove most of the uncertainty about how much the actual build cost will be for new reactors in the USA.
