There are already huge artificial islands that are being made or are being planned The largest island/peninsula is the Palm islands in Dubai The largest of those is the Palm Deira, which will be 80 square kilometers Manhattan is 64 square kilometers
The Dubai waterfront project will surround the Palm islands
So traditional megaprojects cannot be underestimated and MNT will have to go even bigger.

I am planning a group of 128 floating, anchored, islands out of the coast of Argentina. These are, super cheap, mile diameter islands for fishing and control of illegal industrial fishing. They are placed 42 kilometers apart.
